Postby runjanerun » Mon Apr 13, 2009 4:06 pm

okey doke

way too much over indulging of late

anyone care to join me in a detox- the plan is for two weeks(and i will continue longer if i go ok)

My detox is: (sandra cabot's liver cleanse)

no processed foods-(just been making my carrot celery and beetroot juice)

NO COKE ZERO(this will be the hardest thing for me)

NO ALCOHOL(2ND hardest)

NO chips etc

NO red meat or dairy(tabs to supplement) this is no biggie as im slightly intololerant to some dairy products

just lots of healthy unprocessed foods(also made wholemeal banana and walnut mini muffins as a snack)

lunch was toast with hummus lettuce tomato and cucumber

kinda getting ready today-the big start is tomorrow-just went shopping for LOTS and :LOTS of stuff( i think i saw Stu shaking his head a few times ;)

all sorts of fun stuff -aloe juice, livatone tabs, LSA, lotsa vegies oh and a juicer! i really do spend a LOT of money

so who's up for it? or am i going solo(ive done it a few times before and feel very very good-after the initial 3 days of feeling crappy

Ok RJR sounds good to me but I can't cut out dairy, as a vego once that's out of my diet I am pretty much Vegan which is just one step too far for me.

Can I still play?

After my two week rest after Trailwalker I am embarking on my winter training program and despite protestations to the contrary I do need to lose a Kg or two (mostly thanks to post TW over indulgence and easter pigging out) and was going to clean up my diet this week anyway.

So for me

Dairy still in

NO pastries, muffins or any other sweet bakery treats (my weakness!)

NO white flour or rice

NO added sugars

NO wine or vodka (Ok or any other alcohol)

NO chocolate or lollies or soft drink

NO processed food

NO coffee or black tea

No meat in my diet anyway apart from fish, the first two weeks and last two weeks of the Cabot liver cleanse allow tuna and salmon so I won't abstain.

Starting tomorrow :D

Tasty.

And as self defeating as it probably is I shall have to finish off an easter egg tonight, because opened chocolate on my house won't last two weeks!

Postby John's Running On » Wed Apr 15, 2009 4:59 pm

Im starting right now

*No more take away food( i.e: the red rooster chips i had today)

*No more chocolate( tough decision this one)

*No more smoking( easy as i never started smoking   )

*No more unhealthy snacks(i.e: potato chips, lollies)

*No more soft drink( having already given up alcohol, this should be easy)

*No BAKERY!!!! (i wont even go into a bakery from now on)

*No added sugars/colour/flavouring

That should do for now. Im sure ive forgotten something  . I think i can do it, well, i have to do it i feel. I can only get so far on a poor diet of kfc and chocolate

I'll help you all out with this detox thingy... just send all the choolate, coffee, alcohol and red meat my way (maybe not the smokes and Maccas). :P

Seriously... a good healthy diet and everthing in moderation is the way to go.... then you can have a little divergence now and again and it doesn't do too much harm.... Sheesh...

You do not suck!

If one or two things slip, then just think of all the other improvements that didn't slip.

And, think of how much better you are than, say me, who hasn't done anything ! And I know if it was me doing it, it would be the wine that would be the first to go too!

John, from now on you may have to join Rupert and myself and order muesli & fruit juice instead of your usual pancakes with bacon/ chocolate milk shake combo for breakfast after our Sat long runs ....

I had an espresso yesterday, it was either that or kill someone so it was an easy decision in the end

Now in a rather saintly fashion I am snacking on almonds and dried apricots

I think you're all mad :P

One of the reasons I do so much exercise is so I can indulge in all the wonderful things that life has to offer............ caffeine, saturated fats, highly refined sugar based products.

I think I might go and have a deep-fried bacon and cheese donut and a coke.
I'm not a complete idiot..... some parts are just missing

I started this about three weeks ago, went really well the first two weeks (apart from the skull splitting headaches) but have slipped somewhat the last week or so. Time to get back on the wagon now.

Managed to drop 3.5kg so far :D

Late last year there was a thread about what we would do this year to improve, I said I would try to give up junk food. Well I think my biscuit and cake eating has reached new levels this year, while my chocolate consumption has been keeping a few people in a job at Cadburys and the hotcross bun marathon from February to April was a huge success with buns eaten pretty much daily.

I don't think I am at fault though. If they didn't produce this products I wouldn't be able to put them in my mouth. What can I DO?

An afternoon of eating fruit, muesli bars and sultanas has me feeling a million dollars.....except from the fact that after a tough day at work my running plans have turned to dust. Losing the struggle to stay awake. Oh well, theres always tomorrow.

I feel im doing quite well, its taking time, but im slowly cutting the bad things from my daily diet. Now i just have to make sure im able to use that extra energy gained by running, instead of working so hard

Probably best if I stay away from this one......

So I'll just wish everyone good luck & close the door quietly on my way out....
42.2km is just the warm-up
