Now Em, remember we are doing an extra 15 after the run, so there will be no pub for you....unless you want to have a guiness in between

Do you have the chips with your beer like the chips and the chocolate shake you were talking about yesterday?

Hi All! Got my kit on Tuesday. 7470. I'm keen for a meet and greet afterwards. Name the place and I'll be there. Any suggestions for showers?

Glad to see Metlink have seen sense and scheduled some early trains on a few lines - thankfully mine is one of them. I'd like to think that they will be setting a precedent for other major running events.

I think the post race rehydration process might be at the Transport Hotel, Fed. Square.

Can't think as to where there would be showers, normally we just have a load of tired sweaty runners sitting around drinking 8)

Renee, a change of top, some deoderant and bodyspray are the closest you'll get to a shower I think. :D

I reckon if you showed up at the pub having had a shower, you'd be the odd one out

Lol @ mightypieboy - plus it'd just make everyone else smell more noticeably. Ick.

Btw did anyone else read the carb loading plan for the r4tK in the herald sun? Was that really excessive? Starting the day with 7 weetbix... I reckon if I carb loaded that heavily, I'd not make it to the start line!

I have already started my carbo loading and I am not even running  Mmmm...pasta, bread, sports drink, handfuls of sugar, white rice, jelly beans, it is the only reason I want to get back to running in these races!

(it feels a bit silly calling it a race, I never raced, I just ran as fast as I could- is that the same thing?)

Doh - just lost a very nice wordy post about the choice of event shirt......

can't be bothered now..... but in summary the cotton dri-fit is legit and has been around a while. My experience is that its ok for training and better for everyday wear than poly dri-fit.

The feedback from runners will determine if it was a good or bad decision.

Happy to answer any Q's (if I can)

Clarkey,

Did it go something like this blub fom the R4TK newsletter:

"Thousands of entrants have purchased the official 2008 Herald Sun / CityLink Run for the Kids t-shirt, designed exclusively by Nike. This yearís tees are made out of Nike Dri-FIT fabric technology, which features moisture wicking properties to draw sweat away from the skin and through the material to the outside of the garment ñ keeping you drier.

Many of Nikeís consumers will be familiar with Nike Dri-FIT polyester garments (they are often represented in a mesh fabric construction), but Nike Dri-FIT is not limited to only one type of material. Nike Dri-FIT can also be utilised in a cotton and polyester blend, which may feel like a non performance garment due to the cotton feel, but this fabrication still features Nike Dri-FIT moisture wicking properties.

The 2008 Herald Sun / CityLink Run For The Kids Nike t-shirt is a cotton (60%) / polyester (40%) fabric which incorporates Nike Dri-FIT performance fabric technology."

Who carbo loads for anything less than 42.195kms? I eat plenty of carbs anyway and only "load" for marathons.

Next thing you know they'll be talking about having to taper for it as well  (Something else that you only need to do for marathons, sort of  ).

Yep - something like that, in the long version I mentioned that an e-mail may have been read already.

I suppose I just wanted to add a bit of personal experience, since I sensed some disappointment. I know what its like to be expecting one thing and getting another.....

I'll also add that I like the colour much better this year.
