PostPosted: Tue May 15, 2007 1:29 pm

anyone want to come join me in a 6 or 8 week weight loss?ive just noticed ive put on a few extra kgs and need some external motivation

i am out of action for a while and have a wedding to attend..and want to lose a few kgs..i once had a gf who we used to have a weekly weigh in and email the other.(we can just post here) :D

it was enough to help me keep up the motivation because you know it will show up if you are really bad

if you really dont want to post your weight..you can just call the first weigh in 0..and then -0.5 means you lost 0.5kgs etc

I suggest wednesday or thursday morning weigh ins..

short term goal -3weeks(61.5)what i was! longer term 60kgs (6 weeks)

week 0 63.4kgs

eek i have just outed my weight

I would argue that you should focus more on % body fat and less on weight.

Saying that, I'll be in! I'm going to try to loose about 5kg of weight, mostly from my upper body. I've started a new gym program which has even more reps and lighter weights and will try to eat a bit better. No other reason but to carry less weight while running hopefully meaning a bit faster.

It's been a while since i jumped on the scales, I'll weigh myself tonight and, but should be around 80kg... hopefully I won't get a nasty surprise

Edit: I have actually seen this work with great results on other forums too!

Now that I am injured I should take up the challenge, to make sure I don't gain any weight during the lay off.

Problem is I have already been off for a week and a half and am too scared to get on the scales

Maybe I'll just settle for -0.5 or +0.5

Hmmm. grimace. Go on then. Maybe bf% also? although not everyone has bf scales. Plus, can it change much in the space of a week?

When are we starting? (blimey - look at me!)

I've been complaining about my weight to Michelle for a while now so I'll join you on this little jaunt :D

I won't be posting my starting weight (much too embarassing for that)

I do, however, have a goal of reaching 60kg.

I weighed myself this morning so I'll jot that down and start from there :(

Good idea.

I need to loose muscle as well as fat so I've changed my gym program.

Was:

Day 1: Back, Biceps (some leg) 12-15 reps x 3 sets back, x2 sets biceps.

Day 2: Chest, Shoulder, Tri 12-15 reps x 3 chest, x2 shoulder, tri

To:

Full Body workout (except legs), 2 x week with 20 reps x 3 sets for everything. Legs every second week, also 20 reps x 3 sets.

Diet:

Only thing is to watch the intake at night. I get home from work/ gym at around 9pm every night and eat a full meal plus more snacks watching TV. I think the key is to cut down here even if I'm not completely full.

My plan is:

1) Eat a healthy well-balanced diet

2) Cut back on alcohol and sweets at night...biggest down fall for me

3) Run three days a week and attend gym twice a week

I aim to lose 500gm - 1kg aweek.

This is an ongoing thing for me, but the six week thing can be a bit of a boost for me for a bit. I am actually not as concerned about the scale thing, so I don't have a particular target, but I am more concerned about whether I keep to my own little rules.

For mine over the next 6 weeks, I want to concentrate on doing three things

* more consistency with running as my primary cardio - my log book shows that my good weeks are getting better but I have too many low weeks (which often pop up when busy etc). So a modest goal to make sure no matter what that I run at least 15km every week. Should be acheiveable in even the busiest weeks.

* at least two resistance sessions per week. I always notice a huge difference when I am doing weight training.

* incorporating some of the principles from the CSIRO wellbeing diet. In particular, trying to cut out carbs in the evenings.

Will weigh on wednesdays, with 0 being start weight tomorrow.

I'll be in! I'm just starting to get back on track after putting on weight I've taken off. My goal is to lose a kg a week for the duration. I'm 77 kgs now so want to get back down to 70. Ultimately I'd like to get to 65 kgs but those 60s are my sticking point!

My plan is

Cardio 6 x a week (-prolly running 4 days and gym/spin classes the others)

Weights 3 x a week

Eat sensibly and cut out the crap - more knitting, less snacking at night.

Drink more water.

Most importantly, what is our prize if we are good and manage to score a good result in the challenge?

PostPosted: Tue May 15, 2007 5:20 pm
by beetroot face
I'll post my weight on Friday, as I'll not have web access after tonight until then.

Exercise - 2-3 gym sessions alternating upper and lower body + CV burning 250+ cals per session. Running 2-3 times per week, although just getting back into it after injury, so realisitically twice per week.

Food - Aiming to eat 6 small meals/day of around 300 cals for 3 main meals, with 3 snacks of 230 cals. I said aiming.

When I'm good, I'm very very good, and when I'm bad, I'm horrid.

I am in- but not writing my weight down here! I will just refer to it as F, so my goal weight is F-7kg. Is that okay?

I'm in! In the grumps 'cos did my first 10 k.m in ages (ok, this year  ) on saturday and proceeded to miss a step leaving mums on sunday and badly sprain my ankle/actually more in the front of ankle/tib.ant tendon region. Now not only stressed about possibility of not making run to the g which i was feeling inspired about after saturday, but in grave danger of piling on kg's due to lack of exercise and grumpy binges (e.g last night went to 7-11 for milk and came back with large pack of burger rings and pack of tim tams and ATE THE LOT! - bad joey!)

So this could be a great support for not losing the plot completely weight wise - great idea runjanerun!!

I'm with deeges - will weigh in tomorrow and call that '0'. As i still have a lot to lose i will aiming for 1 kg per week ie. -8 by 8 weeks. Geez, did i just put that in writing??!! Have to do it now!!

LOL!- the cryptic descriptions of our weights reminds me of a friend i have had for 20 years and we always used to chat at school about our weight using 'X' - ie. "geez, i'm doing X plus 8 at the moment, how about you?" This was 'cos all our other girlfriends were slim and we NEVER revealed what 'x' was. We sometimes laugh about how we have sadly had to reasses what 'x' stood for over the years!

Main trouble spots for me is pig outs/emotional eating/binges whatever horrible name you want to give it! and also eating out. Most weeks i am out to dinner 2-3 times per week so serious danger zone. Day to day i am very good generally, just have my cereal and skim milk for brekkie, six inch chicken and salad subway ( i am number one ticket holder at Blacky South subway, i walk in and they greet me by name and make my lunch without asking for my order now!) and a piece of fruit for lunch and lean meat and vegies for dinner(no rice, pasta or potato)Like someone else said, when i am good i am very good, when i am bad i am BAD!

Looking forward to checking in with everyone how you all go- good luck! :D

Can i join,

I'm currently 10st 4lb i'm told this is 65.45kgs i have put on somehow due to not running for 5 months over 20lb about 10kgs my goal is to get back down to where i was (55.45).

Running did help before been back 5 weeks now nothing seems to be shifting as of yet, i know i have to be patient

My problem now is i work nights now so my eating pattern is different and it involves eating at around 11:30pm amd when i get home after 2:30am i have to eat something then or i won't sleep as i'm usually hungry by then

of course you can join pammie..the more the merrier..

pretty sure 10kgs over 8 weeks is a big ask..(especially since 55kgs is pretty light..but without knowing how tall etc you are its hard to tell) and the last few kgs are always the hardest to shift

we can have your goals in stones if you like..

did you want to have a mini goal for the 8weeks and then ill amend the list and repost..

you can have any amount you like of course...

runjanerun LOL

You know as i logged back in here this afternoon its just after 4pm now i was thinking that, didn't read the thread title i'll do the typical 2lb a week target or stick for a 10lb loss in 6 -8 weeks which might be more realistic (half my target)

The 20lb is the overall goal. I am just a tad under 5 foot 4 have a small frame so i'm told and was around 8st 10 - 8st 12lb last summer

1st goal get under 10stone in the next few weeks

Drink more water

And if anyone has any suggrstions what i can eat in the middle of the night when at work that won't necessarily pile on the pounds it would be appreciated
