Headbands

Postby Grechy » Fri Jun 04, 2010 2:04 pm

Being an excessive sweater, I have now decided to invest $10 in a headband.

I have never worn one before but Bruce Doull was one of my favourite footballers as a kid.

Any comments on headbands? Does anyone use them? Are they effective in keeping the sweat off the face?

I bought one a couple of years ago because I suffer the same problem of sweating a lot. I wore it a few times and was bagged so it's packed away and only comes out for the occassional run in the forrest where no one will see my shame. Hopefully you can get the trend going Greechy so that closet headband wearers like me can be set free.

I might have to join you on this one Grechy- my eyes sting so much from the sweat, especially if it is raining like today. I hate wearing a hat or visor because my head gets too hot. Might need to either shave my head or get a head band, I think I will try the head band first! I am sure we could start a trend (okay not really sure).

I think a cap or visor would work better. I am also a profuse sweater and have found that when wearing a cap, when the cap becomes saturated in sweat the sweat rolls down the visor lid and drips off the end, away from my face/eyes (also works when its raining). I imagine a headband would only work until it fills up with sweat and then you'd be back to the original problem.

I have so far used my headband while I did a workout on an elliptical trainer.

It was fantastic for 30 minutes then it became like a wet sponge!!

Normally I would not be too embarrassed to wear one during a race but the headband (like the moustache) seems to be making a comeback and I am someone who does not like to follow the crowd too much so I doubt I will wear it at any races soon. I might wear it at training so everyone can make fun of me.

Grechy, why don't you get a round zig-zaggy plastic headband? It worked a treat for David Beckham!

Hi Grechy,

I found something for you today http://www.sweatgutr.com/home.html

They are a sweat gutter (they spell it gutr) and it is thin soft latex looking stuff that channels the sweat away from your eyes. You would not have the problem with they filling up and overflowing like you did with the headbands either. They are $20 and I saw them at Intraining which is in Milton (QLD) but you can buy them online.

I would like to know if you buy one and if it helps. Good luck.

I bought one of these GUTR headbands online, but it hasn't been hot enough to wear it since. It looks like it might work. Doesn't stand out as much as a full headband, but I still got bagged when I tried it on in front of the mirror :-(
