Clearance stores

Postby Briony » Thu Sep 27, 2007 12:37 pm

I went and visited all the Smith St clearances stores and I thought I'd mention it here so hopefully others can grab a few bargains.

Yesterday at the New Balance clearance store in Smith St I bought an awesome pair of cross country shoes (rubber spikes) for $32 so if you are female and in need of cross country shoes I highly recommend you check it out. The New Balance clearance store is just near the Nike one.

At the Nike clearance store they must have just changed their range because there are so many tops and pairs of shorts that are recent for really good prices (30% off). I bought a couple of tops for $28 each and I could have easily bought 4 or 5 items. Sometimes the Nike clearance store doesn't have much, but it certainly does at the moment!

Thanks Briony,

I might pop down to Nike and have a look for some summer gear and hopefully they will have a pair of Nike Free's for me to try.

Clearance stores (quack quack :D ) are the only way to go if you're not caught up in "current season" mindsets.

NB's store is pretty good, a reasonable range of run gear and ridiculous prices on their running shoe range.

Nike are pretty stocked up at the mo but again finding your size is the issue.

For you Asicsphiles, the place to go is Podium Sports at the DFO's.
Revised running goals...

>1 sub 17 by summer's end

....and don't forget that the Converse store in Smith Street (and DFO outlets) have the best prices for Saucony trainers :D

The Lululemon shop in Chapel St is having a clearance on Sat morning (upstairs). I've not been there but have been meaning to check them out for a while. It's mostly yoga gear but they have some pretty cute running tops, bras etc as well.

I ran (literally) into the Nike shop in Smith St during my lunch break to grab a waterproof jacket for the 4 Peaks this weekend. I grabbed the only jacket they had for $120. Went to the check out and it scanned for $60... then got a discount and finished off paying $45. I ran back a very happy customer :D

Guys and girls,

Hop on the website above. Really cheap now because of the Aussie Dollar.

I brought a new polar watch, it was about $80 cheaper than at rebel and that included postage.

Just checked out the runningwharehouse site, seeing I won't be in Melbourne till after Christmas. Got to agree with Injuryprone the prices are way cheap and with the Oz $ 'cheaper than chips'.

Think Converse have a sale at the moment - buy one pair and get the second pair half price.

JK ad I got a lovely pair of Saucony Propels for 100 each.

Couldn't agree more - nothing but positives from me. They currently have 25% off a large range of shoes and apparel for anyone on their mailing list

Just got an email back from runningwarehouse requesting card details, as this is my first purchase with them. I find this a bit strange as their website quotes it as being secure.

Has anyone else, who has purchased items from runningwarehouse had this form to fill out?

Use the Paypal option instead and you won't need to do that.

I have used Paypal for all my orders and I didn't have to go through any rigmarole.

Also they are conservative with their delivery estimates, I have found that 4 days is the usual turnaround.

The only downside with paypal and RW is the fee they charge you, which makes strong exchange rates usually a little less strong. Next you make a purchase, look at the rate you're charged rather than the one that appears on xe.com (actual x-c rate) - there's about 3 to 4c in the $ difference (more?). Is this disclosed in your paypal agreement?

er...is/are there any other stores out there that do a straight forward internet transaction without all the 'crap'. When did it all get complicated? I guess I'm living in the past.

Postscript...just done the pay pal thingy...the clock is ticking (please adjust for daylight saving).

I just purchased a pair of Asics 2130's from the States for AUD$128 inc freight. That's $60 better then I can do in Perth (and here I need to wait till they get 4E sizes).

Yeah knoddie, I just purchased ASICS Nimbus 9 (with wide fitting) including postage to Perth - AUD$170.47. Considering I've got to pay $229 at one of the 'stores' here.

As in my previous thread I'm now waiting.

I know you have to send the form back, but its only once and your done. Its good for security.

I have just sent my second order through, pair of new Kayanos 14 and 4 pairs of socks - Delivered in 3 working days for $197. Best price in Aus I could get was $370.

Socks were nearly $40 ea in Athletes foot yet I brought them for $10-99 each on the site.

I tell you I am not buying any where else again.

*Beagle, with postage I always go with Fed ex express, I think you have have gone with Airmail?

I picked up a pair of 2XU triathlon shorts today at their clearance centre at the Essendon DFO (I didn't even know it was there - thanks to Ads for the tip). Less than half the price I'd seen them for in the local bike shop.
