I used to run a lot at school, but as an adult I have done the odd 3k-er here and there. I play a lot of netball but running was never a priority. I started about 2 months ago properly, and entered the Sri Chinmoy 10km Geelong run which is in October. I progressed quickly to start, and within a couple of weeks, I was running every other day and went from running 3-4km to 9...and you guessed it...runners knee
I have been doing about 6 km, very slowly and as it's very hilly where I live I have been taking it easy going downhill and not doing the 'wuhhooooooo' thing as I ran down :S what a novice, I had no idea the damage I was doing. Today I woke up and my knees felt great. I didn't feel like running (which weirdly means that I have a great run). I just kept going and going...I'm so pleased with myself. My other half said 'oh well done, but you could run it faster next time'...oh erm, thanks...I think ;P
I'm doing the 8km Yarra Valley Run in September and I can not wait. I just hope I can finish and hopefully don't come last.
Like I said, I've been a lurker for a while and you all seem so nice that I had to introduce myself
Thanks for reading, that is, if you made it this far
