My Own Humiliation

Postby pumpitdog » Tue Feb 16, 2010 4:26 pm

Hi I am restarting again....... And i am putting all my running details here so I can be embarrassed if I don't keep running. So this is purely to humiliate myself so i can improve.

So please , comment nicely if you want, but don't bag me about how slow i am( actually that might help me improve, or maybe i'll just start lying  !!)

2.4kms 15:26 seconds felt good (better than expected) but it was very hot. 35 degrees

Dog, no one will ever think bad of you for giving it a go.

If you need any help or advice on how to get back into it again just shout.

Well i look at it like this......

Walking 2.4km in 15m26s would be impossible for me, so would not bag anyone for using that as a running starting point.

Good Luck with your improvement, but most of all your enjoyment!!
42.2km is just the warm-up

I am just starting and you are better than me!!!

6 k's was taking me about 45 mins

I feel like I am getting better and have not timed myself for a few weeks now, but I am running more than walking. I think seeing improvement really helps to keep you going.

Good on us 8) .

Dog - When I started running I was taking 18/19mins to run 3kms.

And I thought that was pretty darned good.

Your starting point is pretty much the same as mine, so I won't be bagging you (well maybe just a little if I get bored  ).

2.4kms 14 44

Felt like I started much faster and never thought I could keep up the pace, but was very surprised at my time. (I only look once I finish)

By the way Thankyou....

Been really stiff and sore from water skiing, so had to rest.

14 55 2.4km

didn't want to go at all, but didn't have an excuse not to.

So I went and i'm happy. I'm not worried about time but i did use to like running 5-7kms 3 times a week. so that's what im aiming for. But slow and steady does it. my time for 2.4ks is only slightly slower than when I was running before. I am not a fast runner by any means...

Slow n steady does it indeed :D No jokes here about how fast you are going. I will let you know more after a 3k time trial in a few weeks, but until then, I am in awe of anyone under 6.5 mins per km

Pumpit. I am on a similar comeback program (modified on the advice of others on this forum) and totally agree that 2.4 k in approx 15 min is perfectly respectable running. It's just far and long enough in my view and makes a huge difference to how I feel after each run. I will watch your progess. Keep it up :!:

Ran 4.8kms Yah for me

First 2.4kms in 15.25 and then I think I finished in 31.34 (I thought my watch was broken)

I was pretty excited with that The fact that i ran 4.8kms and ran the whole way without stopping.

Thanks for the feedback. And it does feel nice to be encouraged I didn't think I wanted it, but it is helping...

2.4kms in approx 15 mins.

But I did stop to watch the 4 blackhawk helicopters fly over which were so low and pretty awesome

Was going to run 5kms but felt very unwell so I did the boring thing and listened to my body....

Will try harder next time :)

excellent work pumpit,

I found the first 5ks the hardest, for a number of reasons. My body wasn't used to running, my technique was awful, my diet even worse and the list goes on. I began with a 40min 5k after a number of months I've got to approx 29 mins with a hope of a sub 25 for 2010. From this i've been working hard on diet an discipline, where it's becoming second nature to go for an early morning run and have a nutricious breakfast.

After careful changes and using advice from the folk on this forum, i'm beginning to see some amazing improvements not only with my running but general well being. My runs have become longer and the times are begining to reduce.

Well done and keep going

lastest run 4km (i forgot to start my watch so I don't know)

but I have been struggling lately with the heat

What people don't know is I walk 14kms every day for work during the heat of the day, so for me to come home and then run is sometimes a real effort.

I find it toughest on the hotter days (30 and above) as I already feel a little dehydrated so i am getting home a bit exhausted anyway

But I do like running so I am going to keep trying.

And I'm not trying to make excuses  (maybe I am)

But reading your post Microdoc sure gives me hope (My diet is such a big thing) so i will keep going
