I only found out when I got to high school that I was an alright runner.
I went to what must have been an incredibly competitive primary school (it hadn't dawned on me until high school how unusual it was that most of the kids who qualified to run against other schools, then qualified again to run in the bigger district and state levels) so I just thought I was pretty average at it.
As soon as I got to high school, I was one of the faster ones so I got into training and started loving it from there.
I've never run a marathon in one go, but I have done a marathon distance (105.5 laps of the aths track) during a relay for life event which spanned over 24 hours.
Crazy thing was, I was finishing up year 7 at the time. There's no way I could do it now though. I went crazy for running and endurance training back in year 7.
